Get ready for a trivia game where it really doesn't matter if you know the correct answer or not. You'll be more focused on trying to convince the judge that you know the correct answer. Get the Brilliant card and you'll get points. Receive the BS card and you'll get a dent to your ego. Judges can also earn points. This is a party game where you'll be sure to laugh and have a good time.
Brilliant Or BS is a perfect party game for up to six players. Questions are very well written and are quite interesting. Are you a know-it-all or a BS-it-all? This game is brilliant! Or was that BS? No really, it's brilliant. You can award us the Brilliant card on that because that is the true answer. What a fun game! Party games can be a lot of fun, but some are so much on luck or favoring the judge that there is very little incentive or reason to play. This has a little strategy since you are trying to convince or BS your way to victory. It is so simple yet so entertaining to try and gain points and to watch the commotion that unfolds.
Brilliant Or BS comes in a very tight yellow box made from sturdy cardboard. Perhaps our only complaint is that there are only 85 question cards. We wanted this game to last for a long time. The game depends on who's playing so even if you go through the whole deck with the same friends, you can still play with other friends and have good results. If you play this a lot with the same friends then you'll eventually learn most of the answers and it will kill some of the fun. The likelihood of this happening is probably pretty slim.
The rules are listed on three of the cards in a condensed version compared to the online version that doesn't come with the game. Scoring was the only thing we had to slow down on to make sure we understood. A quick cheat sheet for scoring would have been nice but it is quickly learned how to gain or loose points. There is also a free scoring sheet available which helps a lot if you remember to print it out before the game.
Game play is a blast. Some people can't lie at all and others are so convincing. It is fun to harass each other and interrogate people. A party or get together is such a great place to play this game and all players will have a lot of fun. The fact that the score is kept on a piece of paper somewhere helps to minimize the load on all players. Remember to not mention any of the answers. This kept getting us and is fun to wait for others to say it so you can call them out. We totally recommend this game to anyone who likes to play games. It's fun, casual, slightly strategic in your BS skills, hysterical and a blast to play.
