HOW TO PLAY
If you like using your own game pieces to attack and defend, respawn them, move and use blockades, jump on top of them while using shields in an all out Chess/ Chinese Checkers type battle then Hermetica is for you. This impressively built game is a very strategic and entertaining game to play with one other player.

Hermetica is a great game for two players that really want to go head to head to see who can outsmart the other. Each game piece has it's own special moves which will help aid in getting either the sun or moon where you want it to win. Give Hermetica a try today.

Board Game Capital's Review:
(2018-08-25)
HermeticaA good first impression always helps with table top games and Hermetica dazzles you at every corner. First, you get a uniquely shaped sturdy storage box that stays closed with magnets and has two nice simple compartments for the game pieces. Second, the game board is actually a really nice mat (similar to a mouse pad) that gets rolled up so no creases are made. Third, the game pieces are made from wood, metal/plastic looking material that feels like a smashed marble in your hand. Oh, and did we mention those pieces get to hang out in a nice fabric drawstring bag? The rulebook is also thin and long to fit perfectly in the box. Nice job on packaging and game pieces!

Hermetica reminded us of what would happen if you combined Chess, Chinese Checkers and a few natural elements (sun, moon, fire, water, etc.). Game play is very strategic and there is a lot to keep in mind as each token has its own abilities. Cheat sheet cards are provided and are a great help your first few times through the game. Keeping track of what you can do, how that affects you and how your opponent's pieces can affect you will get your brain going for sure. Thinking a couple moves ahead helps. If this is your style of game, you'll love it. If you're not a fan of chess or games that have specific moves for each game piece, then this might not interest you as much.

HermeticaThe game rules are understandable but have a lot of information you'll need to remember. There are a lot of possibilities and scenarios that can come up so referencing it often will most likely happen. We liked how there are different options for setting up the initial game mat and that there is a freedom to customize it however you'd like. This is a puzzle game that is very different every time. After a few games, you get the hang of it and it becomes a fun and very combative game. Similar to Chinese Checkers, it would have been fun if up to four people could play trying to cross all edges of the mat but understand this would get very crowded with tokens flying off the board quick.

This game is not for everyone and has a unique style of game play. We question how well a 10 year old could play but there are some smart kids out there. Using your own game pieces, respawning them, moving blockades, jumping on top of them and using shields are all part of the game. Overall a very well built and thought out game that will last for many years.
