Summary:
How hard can it be to make a simple sandwich? Oh, very hard when other players keep turning your cheese, lettuce, meat and bread into rotten food. Hoagie, the card game, is a simple yet very fun game to play with up to five people ages five and up.

The game Hoagie challenges its players to be the first to complete their hoagie sandwich without any rotten ingredients. This light-hearted game plays pretty quick and is a snap to learn how to play. Add this game to your collection and the younger kids will have a great time playing together.

Board Game Capital's Review:
Review Completed (2018-08-19) Hoagie GameWe usually play our review games with adults but this time we gathered a group of kids together and put the age limit on the game box to the test. We have never seen a group of kids have more fun and have their eyes light up with the challenge to make their own sandwich all while giving the other players nasty food. Long story short it was a hit and the kids loved the game Hoagie!

It only took us a few minutes to explain the game and the six through ten year olds were off and playing, giggling and laughing. After only seconds of playing, we realized that the special cards weren't going to work very well for them. Some still couldn't read very well and others just couldn't grasp the idea of skip, reverse and double play. This is a great addition for the older groups playing but taking these cards out made the game quicker, easier and a lot more fun for the younger group of kids. Look out for that "double play" card though, that one is worth it's weight in gold (really gives you an added advantage).

Hoagie CardsThe cards are illustrated so nicely (and quirky). The good ingredients look great and the spoiled ingredients were a little more than appalling at first but they grew on us and are actually downright hilarious. The faces the kids made when they saw them were a classic "Ew!" Having a smaller ingredient icon in the top corners of the cards (like face cards) would help them be more identifiable when they are in your hand but the clean look of the cards might be compromised. Keeping all the cards upright in your hand was only an issue for those that need everything neatly in order.

Hoagie comes with great quality components, easy and well written rules, great illustrations and a game play experience that is simple, fun and inexpensive. This is a must have if you're not into heavy or even moderate strategy games. If nothing else, it's a great way for adults to play with kids and for everyone to have a good time.
