Board Game Capital's Review:
(2018-05-11)
JabberJot CardsJabberJot is labeled as a laugh out loud story making game. We agree. As with so many other games out there, players are trying to come up with the most witty, funny, creative and tailored to the judge as they can to win the point. Where JabberJot stands out is the fun twist of including some nice looking (and random) images. Not only do these enhance the game appearance, they also help steer the answers in a specific direction (kind of) and get the creative juices flowing.

We loved how the images, theme and key words all need to be used to create one silly story. The rules are really laid back which is nice and allow you to use any part of the images or even change the key word tense (smile can be changed to smiled or smiling, etc.). Picking the most obscure and random part away from the main image was fun because then you got challenged and you could point out that you indeed used all the images. This also gives you more freedom (watch out for that timer). There are also at least three "official" variations of the game that sounded really fun.

JabberJot GameIf you have a good group together, things can get real crazy and funny fast. We did notice that sometimes people would take the same path for some rounds and it was kind of the same story over and over. Other rounds, we couldn't be farther from each other's stories which made it so much more fun.

We were slightly confused why everyone that finished their story got a point. Although 90 seconds isn't a lot of time, you can pretty much whip any story together even if it doesn't really make sense nor is that interesting. If you're playing the game, I don't know why you wouldn't always include all elements. This never happened to us but maybe other groups it might. The extra point for the favorite was the only things that drove the score.

JabberJot GameTexting in the answers was also a fun twist but required some careful texting selection (rotating who you sent it to). Writing it down on your own paper is always an option but then you get to deal with people's fast hand writing... Game component quality seems good with thick cardboard word cards and nice looking image cards.

With almost infinite possibilities, you'll never get the same set up twice. Overall, we liked the game! There isn't much skill required and doesn't involve much strategy. It's just a fun, sit back and kill some time having a laugh together kind of game.
