This game was mysteriously similar to another game in a tin with round cards (Spot It) but surprisingly enough it played very different. This game uses its own cards to make the game completely unique each and every time you play. Depending on how the cards are shuffled, each game is very different - clever and we liked it.
We quite enjoyed the simple nature of the game. Match the response with a category and starting letter of the word. Brilliant. We did, however, notice that those that were more traveled or diverse in their life experiences/vocabulary/education had a far better advantage to winning. We also invoked a no repeated answers to help keep the game on its toes. When playing with a large age gap (parents with their kids), the parents will win every time. This is the only draw back to this game.
Speedy Words comes in a nice metal tin that is found in a nice little box (slightly redundant packaging but nice nonetheless). Cards, graphics, rules and all gaming components are very professionally done and are of good quality. Game rules are very easy and can be explained in almost one sentence. Self inflicted rules can help keep things fresh by only limiting responses to things inside your country for instance. Then the fun pile-up feature can occur more often when no response is given. A time limit for responses is also very helpful so you're not waiting forever.
