TooT is a card game where you get to toot your own horn (not literally) and create TooTs by combining certain card combinations. Primary color cards must be combined with other primary color cards to form a TooT. Purple, Orange and Green cards are TooTs all by themselves. Number cards are placed on top of their value of TooTs. Don't forget the wild X card that can be used as any other card.
After getting the group together to play TooT, we were all a little skeptical on how the game play would turn out. After one round we were more familiar with the game rules and could see the fun and strategy in it. We tried all four variation of the game that come with it: TooT Pursuit, Progressive TooT, Fluke TooT and Speed TooT. Each had their own twist and were equally fun.
Game components are made well and are on par with most other games. Only a deck of cards, a die and rule sheets come inside the paper box. One flavor of game rules requires a scratch paper and pencil that are not required but easily rounded up. We liked how simple the cards were - one color or one very large number.
One item that we wished was a little better was the rule sheets. There are a lot of mentions about TooTs, numbers and colors. We would have liked to see more graphics and examples of the game play. Having said that, the rules are understandable and give a few hits and tricks and fit nicely on their quarter sheet sizes of glossy paper.
While this game may not be the card game to take over the card game industry, it is fun, engaging and at times challenging. We might question the age limit of 7 since some of the adults playing couldn't quite get their TooTs right but with a little help we're sure anyone can play. Overall a good game to try and play with up to six people and offers four different gaming experiences.
