Each 7 Ghosts game only takes about 15 minutes to play and is very easy to learn how to play. Each card tells you all you need to know and is a haunting good time to play with a friend. When we think of Halloween games, not very many games come to mind. We're excited to announce that there is a new and entertaining addition to that list with 7 Ghosts - a Halloween themed game that merges dice throwing with card collecting. This game is visually appealing and the artwork is very well put together. The use of both large and smaller cards is a fun little twist and helps differentiate the two styles of decks.
Build quality is very good for this game. Cards are nice and the storage boxes are fully printed and look great. Instructions are nicely written with a lot of images helping to explain what each card does. The dice are nice but we were a little put off that the colors on them are merely stickers. While they work great they seemed a little cheap and would have liked to see a nicer more permanent color marking option on the dice.
We hit a few snags when learning how to play and thought this game was slightly odd. Once we reread some sections of the game rules and realized the action on the card is done immediately once received, things made a lot more sense and the concept of having a set of three cards was more useful. After the third 10 minute game, we felt comfortable, were having a lot of fun and the game ran very smoothly. One game, however, ended in a stale mate where no one won.
To win, we needed to keep rolling dice, hoping to get one of each color which would force us to take a spooky action card where a ghost might be. We found this odd. We also had some card shock since there are a lot of cards laying around. Organizing the table so you knew what was what was essential.
Nit picky things aside, this is a fun game where you can use strategy, luck and action cards to your advantage. The games seemed quick and were usually a fairly tight race. We would have liked to see a little more competition with more time to strategize and execute that plan. Lastly, a version that lets more than just two players play would be awesome!
