How To Play Brides And Maids (Instructions)

4 - 10
Play Time
30 MIN

Spice up your bridal shower or bachelorette party with this hilariously fun game designed specifically for such an occasion. You don't have to be smarter than your friends but you definitely will want to be funnier. With 64 cards filled with incomplete sentences, you'll be tasked to finish them with plenty of sarcasm, humor and even an attempt at the truth.

Four categories will appear on each card: 1913 marriage, granny advice, international and pickup lines. Your whole goal is to try to win votes on your answer so you can gain the appropriate points (see the game rules for scoring rules). A great game that is sure to become a favorite and create plenty of memories (for better or for worse).

Board Game Capital's Review (2017-08-10):
Baby, you be the tree... and I'll be your sloth, hanging onto you until forever. That answer was only slightly preferred above "Baby, you be the tree..." and I'll be your lumberjackie, lovin all the wood you can give me. After we got a group of women together to review Brides And Maids (since this is the targeted audience) we couldn't get them to stop! We have never heard so much laughter nor that much enjoyment from a group of women playing a game.

Brides And MaidsBrides And Maids is a complete-the-sentence/fill-in-the-blank party game where players attempt to be either be truthful or funny in their answers trying to gain favor and earn points. The game suggests that the Bride always win but that didn't stop us from rolling out the hilarious lines. The four categories chosen from are: 1913 marriage, granny advice, international and pickup lines. We thought the cards were very well written, slightly educational and encouraged a wide range of creative literary freedom.

Game play is very similar to other games where you are trying to gain favor in your answer. This game awards almost everyone giving one point for every vote earned, two points for guessing the correct answer and three points for writing the correct answer. There is some strategy built in if you want to play for the crown. We found that trying to keep track of the score and who gets what was a slight distraction to the game since things got so out of control (in a good way). We also must have been large writers because the notepads weren't near big enough - not a big deal because you could just use a blank piece of paper.

Brides And MaidsEveryone loved it and we think it has to do with the wide range of people it appeals to. You have the love bird wannabees with their romantic answers, the experienced partner with down-to-earth commonsense answers and the cranky spouse that include sarcasm and malice in their answers. At times you'll want to be careful with how much you reveal about yourself depending on which answer you choose.

While the mechanics of the game are nothing ground breaking and new, the theme and setting the game gets played in is truly a match made in heaven. We would definitely recommend Brides And Maids as a staple activity for any girls night, wedding party or couples night (I guess the guys can play too).

This looks like so much fun. Too bad I don't have any bridal showers coming up. I'll have to keep this in mind for the next one.
