Pendulum is a game that puts players in the roles of powerful, distinct nobles who aim to succeed the Timeless King as the true ruler of Dünya. In the game, players must manage their workers, execute stratagems, and expand their domains' provinces in real-time to gain resources and climb the four victory tracks: power, prestige, popularity, and legendary achievement.
To succeed in the game, players must use actual time as a resource and manage their strategy to outsmart their opponents. They must invest time in different action types while balancing it with time spent analyzing and planning. The ultimate winner is the player who effectively manages and invests their time, builds the best engine, and not necessarily the one who acts the quickest.
Pendulum follows a unique game flow compared to other strategy board games you may have played before. With the exception of the periodic council phase, there are no shared steps or turns that all players must do in sequence. Instead, each player chooses and resolves their own actions, which means all players need to fully understand the game's rules to play it successfully. If any player is new to the game, it's highly recommended to play at least one round un-timed to familiarize themselves with the rules and mechanics of the game.
