How To Play Wingspan

The game is set in the world of birds and players compete to build their own bird habitats and attract the best birds to their habitats to score points. The game play combines elements of engine-building, set collection, and resource management. Wingspan has received critical acclaim for its artwork, thematic depth, and engaging mechanics, and has won several awards, including the prestigious Kennerspiel des Jahres in 2019.

Players start with a set of bird cards, food tokens, and eggs. On their turn, players can take one of four actions: gain food, lay eggs, play a bird card from their hand, or draw a bird card from the deck. To play a bird card, players place it in their habitat, taking into account its specific abilities and requirements. To score points, players can activate the abilities of their birds, and collect end-of-round bonuses based on the number of birds they have in each habitat, the types of birds they have, and the food they have stored.

The game continues until all players have taken four turns in a round, at which point the end-of-round bonuses are calculated, and a new round begins.
