Facets Of Fortune packs a lot of bling with the four precious stones that outline the game board. Players try to buy low and sell high in an attempt to have the highest amount of money after all four markets have crashed. Fun twists along the way make this board game and an unpredictable and addictively enjoyable game.
Great for two to four players, this game can run you close to an hour to play. The playing experience is quite different depending on if two or four people are playing. Learning how to play isn't difficult. Facets Of Fortune is a game you'll want to play and share with all of your family and friends.
Board Game Capital's Review:
(2017-10-16)
No matter if we say this game is a "gem" or a "diamond in the rough," we are very impressed by the game play, simple strategy and exceptional game quality of Facets of Fortune. Short of providing actual gems or rubies, for the price this game is going for, you get a very high quality game. This is where we quickly lament our disgust for some high volume and mega game manufacturers and their poor quality games combined with high prices. Facets of Fortune is not one of them - you'll get more than what you pay for.
When you see a simple black game board design, laced with 3D rubies, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds accompanied by high dollar amounts, it's a game that gets you seeing dollar signs and your competitive blood racing. We were pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of game play. Make no mistake that there is still a fair amount of luck and strategy involved. The basic concept is to buy low and sell high. Special cards like wilds, free gem cards, free exchange, heist or even switch market cards introduce some very fun twists.
One thing we noticed was your purchasing history gets lost during game play since you'll have to rely on memory to know if you're gaining or loosing money during sell back. Remembering what you paid for certain gems gets lost in the, at times, chaotic circumstance so the only true indicator of success is if you are continually gaining money. While this at first was a hurdle, it turned into a game mechanic that leveled the playing field and simplified the game.
Another brutal aspect of the game is the heist card. This can be very advantageous or devastating (depending on which side of the heist you're on) when you get to steal up to 5 gems. That can be worth a lot of money! The switch markets card was a little confusing at first but after a few games, we can see how it can be used to potentially change the game's outcome.
Facets of Fortune is a game that we were truly excited to play and are anxious to play again and again. Sometimes good, original board games are hard to come by. We highly recommend this game to anyone that wants to add a great quality game with some simple straight forward rules to both their game night and their collection. The challenging, random and addicting nature of this game makes Facets of Fortune one of our current favorites.

I used all my money to buy gems during my first turn. The next player heisted me and won all of my gems. Is there any way for me to get back into the game or is it over for me as soon as it began? :(
