Pandemic is a cooperative board game set in modern times and players take on the role of a team of scientists, researchers, and medical experts working together to stop the spread of four deadly diseases.

During the game, each player starts with a unique role card and a set of player pieces. On their turn, players can take four actions, which can include moving to a new city, treating infected population, building a research station, or sharing knowledge with other players. The goal of the game is to discover a cure for all four diseases before they spread out of control. The game is played on a board that represents the world, with cities connected by paths. Diseases are represented by colored cubes that are placed on the cities, and they can spread from city to city. The game also includes Epidemic cards, which can cause outbreaks and accelerate the spread of the disease.
