GAME SUMMARY
It's 1667, and you're aboard a pirate ship, sailing the treacherous waters of the Caribbean. On the horizon, a Spanish Galleon floats, full of treasure. You've convinced your fellow pirates to join forces and steal it, but there's something you're not sharing with them: once you've got the loot in your grasp, you're not going to share it. Aides to your native land only, you plan on holding the plunder for yourself, and hoping it will gain the respect you always wanted. But your comrades are talking of mutiny, and their raised pistols are speaking louder than words. There is not much such as trust on the open seas.

In Tortuga 1667, the players are divided into British and French pirate crews, and in games with an odd number of players, a Dutch pirate enters the fray. You'll start on one of two ships—the Flying Dutchman or the Jolly Roger—but don't be fooled, the players on your ship may not be on your side. Throughout the game, you’ll use Vote cards to engage in various actions: attacks to steal treasure from the Spanish Galleon, mutinies to get rid of greedy captains, and brawls to control the treasure on Tortuga. The goal is to gain as much treasure as possible while navigating treacherous alliances and betrayal.

You will come across Event cards as well in the course of playing the game, which are likely to tip the game's result in your hand by aiding friends or derailing enemies. As soon as Spanish Armada is drawn in terms of Event card, that side with more treasure—reckoned in sum both of shipholds and of booty on Tortuga—becomes the ultimate victor in the game. With French or British tied against one another, victory will come from the hands of the Dutch pirate, guaranteeing the sliest pirate comes away a victor.

In Tortuga 1667, the tension of pirate life is palpable. With alliances being forged and shattered with every turn, you'll have to be constantly on your toes and constantly clever. As you plot and plan to amass the most booty, you'll constantly be asking yourself: who do you trust, and who will stab you in the back as soon as humanly possible? Greed and betrayal are the sea's codes, and only the craftiest pirate will win.

This easy-to-learn yet full-of-strategy and adventure game offers a fresh twist to pirate-themed gaming.
