Board Game Capital's Review (2019-12-24):
Hasty BakerAlright, secret confession time - we have always wanted to make a cooking game that is...exactly like this one! This is eerily the exact same game we had in mind (we're not accusing them of stealing the idea since we never told anyone). I guess great minds think alike. Going into this game already loving the concept might skew our thoughts a bit but we'll try to keep things neutral.

Hasty Baker is a cooking game where players use ingredients to make recipes. Action cards mix things up and can either help or hurt you. We loved the action cards but it did make the game a little more complicated. Mostly keeping track of how many moves you have left is where we were constantly asking, “Wait, how many moves do I have left.” A little extra attention to turn counts is all that is needed so it isn't too hard. The first time through felt almost overwhelming but the second time was much, much better.

We'd give the graphics on this card game an 11 out of 10. They are so nicely done - bright, cartoony, clear, and simple. We loved that the little ingredient icon at the top corner was there so we didn't have to fan the cards out too much. An icon on the action cards would have been nice. Rules were done very nicely with lots of pictures to help you out. Cards and box are well made. There are even two blank recipe cards that you can make your own. Our jaws dropped to the floor when we noticed the recipe cards were a slightly different size than the ingredient cards so as to not let them get mixed up but easily found in the deck. Nicely done!

Hasty BakerGame play is great. Some recipes just fly by, others you get stuck with. The blue ribbon and double cards are awesome with new hand and broken timer being our favorites. Hasty Baker action cards are where things got a little tricky with keeping track of your moves but not a big deal with the help of someone's counting fingers. We had a game where someone was stuck on one recipe for the whole game but turns out they actually won with a doubled recipe and some blue ribbon cards.

We'd absolutely recommend this game to anyone. Kids absolutely love this game and adults will really get into it. A little help might be needed with turn counting and making sure you end with 7 cards in your hand. Hasty Baker didn't let us down and we're glad that someone made our secret game for us.

I purchased this for my son and his family (children ages 7 & soon to be 6). The children had recently taken more interest in baking shows and w the virus (having to be home 24/7) I thought the game would be something the whole family would enjoy. Bingo. I was right. We FaceTime together while they played the game.

Looks like a fun game that introduces foods to young people.

I love that this sounds like a slightly challenging game that I can play with a younger player. We need more games that bridge that gap

I looks like a great family game we can all enjoy right now!

Positive review, I am a family gamer, so that simple use of art and iconography means I just have to remind my kids about what they are looking for rather than reading cards to them. I find cooking to be a desirable theme that isn't done quite enough.

Finally, baking without the kitchen mess!
